Liberated Genius Book Discussion: We Want to Do More Than Just Survive

Are you passionate about social justice and equity for all students?

If yes, then join a community of folks interested in discussing, Abolitionist Teaching and the Pursuit of Educational Freedom, by Dr. Bettina Love, a book arguing that educators must teach students about racial violence, oppression, and how to make sustainable change in their communities through radical civic initiatives and movements. This is a piece to be discussed.

This is a follow-up conversation from Dr. Bettina Love’s talk at EdHub StL, January 29, 2020, from 4pm-8pm. Join us for both events.

Interested in attending an Abolitionist Teaching workshop, check out: https://abolitionistteachingworkshop.eventbrite.com

About the book:

Drawing on personal stories, research, and historical events, Dr. Love offers a vision of educational justice inspired by the rebellious spirit and methods of abolitionists. https://www.amazon.com/Want-More-Than-Survive-Abolitionist/dp/0807069159

*Donations go toward ensuring that everyone who wants to attend can attend without having to sacrifice family over learning. This is abolitionist teaching in practice.

Children are welcome. We will try to have a provider, but if not, they are more than welcome to stay. We are an inclusive space, because this is what abolitionist work looks like.

Led by Dr. April Warren-Grice, Founder and CEO of Liberated Genius, and Dr. Ebony Shippy, assistant professor in the Department of Education at Washington University in St. Louis, MO.
